A new heart in prayer...

I know I have been not only busy but also a bit hesitant to post since our arrival. How do I describe our first days here? They are somewhat normal—because they involve us :o) But everything we do and all that we are both learning and see happening in our hearts is so new.

We began our orientation/training and time in the prayer room with what we thought was a blank slate. Yet as we spend more time in prayer so many snags in our hearts have come to the surface and have been touched by God’s truth.

I have been challenged to lay down a lot of fears about the unknowns in our future here and even my own fear of failing or rejection as we meet so many new people. It’s difficult to admit, let alone face, but even during our first prayer meeting God encouraged my soul with Psalm 84:11:

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.”

An old California friend commented on my & Thai’s appearance being different after only a week of being here. I responded, “I know I am not a completely different person, but my heart has definitely been undone as I have spent more and more time in prayer.”

Praise God for He is our bright light to lead us in times of change and transition, as He shields us from the enemy who lies with fears about what “could” be ahead. Thank God for His provision of grace and community in a new city, for He would never abandon us of His love.
